Bolton Wanderers have confirmed a takeover of the club is close.
A statement released over the weekend says an agreement in principle has been reached for chairman Ken Anderson to sell his 94.5 per cent stake in the club’s parent company, Burnden Leisure.
There will now be a period of due diligence ahead of any completion.
A spokesperson for the club said: ''The Chairman is pleased to announce that an agreement in principle has been reached that will result in Inner Circle Investments selling its total shareholding in Burnden Leisure.
''A period of due diligence has now begun, once this process has been completed and the requirements of the EFL have been satisfied a further announcement will be made to supporters.''
It's the first time the club have confirmed officially that any takeover talks were taking place
Although it's not been confirmed who will be taking over we undersand that a Consortium lead by Parminder Basran and Sharron Brittan are now in exclusive talks.
Any deal is subject to the normal checks but it could all be done by the end of the week.
