Shortly before 12.30am on Friday 2 August 2019, police were called to reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a car at the junction of Moss Bank Way and Knott Lane.
Emergency services attended the scene and a 37-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries. His condition remains serious but stable.
A 19-year-old man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder has been bailed pending further police enquiries.
Witnesses reported that shortly before the collision there was an altercation between the pedestrian and the driver of a silver Seat Leon car. A short time later, the car was seen to drive at speed and collide with the pedestrian, before it drove off from the scene leaving the victim critically injured on the road.
The car has since been recovered for forensic examination.
Detective Inspector Andrew Fallows, of GMP’s Bolton district, said: “It is now a week since this incident which left a man seriously injured and fighting for his life.
“We are continuing to appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who saw a silver coloured Seat Leon in the area at the time, to get in touch immediately.”
