Pensioner's Bury Home Burgled

Police are appealing for witnesses after an elderly man’s home was burgled in Whitefield.

It is believed that at around midday on Wednesday 22 May 2019, two men burgled the property on Dudley Avenue in Bury.

They made off with a number of items including a ticket stub from when the victim took his son away - an item he has cherished for many years as his son died shortly after.

They also stole a gold ingot bought for the victim by their partner, who has now also sadly passed away.

The duo also fled with four gold necklaces, a gold watch, seven gold rings and a quantity of cash, including foreign currency.

The offenders wore all black at the time of the incident and are believed to have been wearing baseball hats. One is further described as being short and of a larger build.

The victim – who is in his 80s - was in the garden at the time of the incident but thankfully wasn’t injured.

Information can be given to police by calling 0161 856 8172 quoting incident number 1171 of 22/05/19.

Alternatively, information can be passed on to the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
