Officers Appeal Following Attempted Horwich Bank Robbery

Police are appealing for information following an attempted armed robbery in Horwich.

At around 12.55pm on Tuesday 4 June 2019, two men entered the NatWest on Lee Lane.

They threatened staff with a hammer and metal bar and demanded money before fleeing empty handed.

There were no reports of injuries.

The men are described as white. 

One was wearing a parker-style coat and dark trousers.

The second man was wearing a grey hooded jacket and dark trousers. 

Both had their faces hidden using bandana-style face coverings.

Detective Constable Carl Fairbrother of GMP’s Bolton District said: “This was a shocking incident that has left staff understandably shaken.

"This occurred in broad daylight in a built up area and we believe there may be several potential witnesses.

"Perhaps you saw these men shortly before or after the attempted robbery, or something that seemed suspicious or out of place.

"Anyone with information or footage that can assist our enquiries should get in touch immediately."
