Police have made an arrest after a woman was found dead in Middleton.
At around 11.20am on Thursday 10 August 2017, police were called to reports that a woman had died at a house on Bonscale Crescent.
Emergency services attended and found a woman with serious injuries. Despite the best efforts of paramedics, the woman could not be resuscitated and she sadly died.
A 69-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning.
Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death and formal identification will take place.
Detective Inspector Adrian Gallagher of GMP’s Rochdale Borough, said: “I would like to offer my sincere condolences to the victim’s loved ones at this difficult time, who are being supported by our specially trained officers.
“Although we have made an arrest, our investigation into how this woman lost her life, continues.
“As this incident happened in a residential area, I’m asking for anyone who noticed something out or the ordinary, or heard signs of a disturbance, to please come forward.”
