Ivan Lewis Calls on voters to support the Conservatives

The former Bury South MP Ivan Lewis has made a shock statement calling on voters to support the Conservatives, apparently conceding his campaign to be re-elected.

Mr Lewis, is standing as an independent in the election after he left the party left Labour following a suspension over allegations of sexual harassment.

It follows a poll last week that showed that he was likely to lose his seat to the Tories after 22 years in parliament.

He claims that Labour and Jeremy Corbyn has failed to tackle antisemitism in the party.

Labour have responded saying "Ivan Lewis was suspended from Labour while we investigated serious sexual harassment complaints about him.

"He left the party shortly before his hearing, denying the complainants their opportunity for their case to be heard. He is not a credible voice on tackling discrimination."
