A war memorial statue outside Farnworth library has been damaged by vandals for the second time in three months.
The metal Tommy statue which shows the silhouette of a soldier was first damaged in November last year.
It had to be removed and repaired by the Council before being put back in it's place.
However on Monday residents woke up to find the memorial had yet again been damaged.
"It's soul destroying" local Councillor Paul Sanders told us.
"The damage in November was heartbreaking. When I inspected it the damage looks very similar it's been kind of pushed towards the ground."
It's now been suggested that the statue be moved inside to protect it but Councillor Sanders told us he understands that won't be what people want.
"Is putting him inside somewhere a sign of giving in or is it a sensible move to make? That's a question we have to put to the people of Farnworth"
It's not clear what the next steps are but repair options are now being looked at.
