Detectives Say Two Children Found Dead In Little Lever Were Murdered

Detectives investigating the deaths of a woman and her two children in Bolton are not treating the mother’s death as suspicious.

The deaths of the two children are being treated as murder, but police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the murders.

Detectives’ enquiries are continuing and officers are liaising with HM Coroner.

Shortly before 3.50pm on Monday police were called to a property on Arthur Street, Bolton to reports of concern for the welfare of a woman.

Officers attended the address and sadly found the bodies of a woman in her 20s and her two young children.

Detective Chief Inspector Colin Larkin of GMP’s Major Incidents Team said: “Our thoughts remain with the family at this unimaginably difficult time.

“Specialist officers will continue to support them while they deal with the loss of their loved ones.

“This was an extremely upsetting case that has affected the family, friends, the local community and everyone at GMP who has been involved with it.

“I would like to thank my fellow officers for their professionalism and diligence over the past 48 hours and the local community for their cooperation and patience.”

Media note: Formal ID of the woman and her two children has not yet taken place, so we are not in a position to confirm identities of the deceased.
