Bolton MP Attacks Council Over Potholes

Bolton West MP Chris Green Claims his constituency is worse than any other in the area

Speaking to Tower Mr Green claimed Bolton Council puts to much focus on the town centre and neglects other areas

"I only have six wards out of the twenty wards in Bolton but five of the top ten worse roads are in my constituency" Mr Green said

"I think my constituents deserve better

"Bolton Council has over £200 Million in reserves, that's the highest in the whole of Greater Manchester.

"Now I and most people will say look, you have that money in the bank why not spend some of that money on residents, you have to look after the residents"

In a statement Bolton Council said

"We know that residents want more investment in the road network and we are continuing to invest in improving our roads under difficult financial circumstances.

"Like other towns and cities across the country, our roads have deteriorated due to a reduction in government grants.

"We also regularly inspect the road network and people can report potholes on the website, via e-mail: streetcare@bolton.gov.uk or by calling us on 01204 336600."
