In a radio interview this morning the former Watford owner said he wants the keys to the club.
Rumours have been circulating for the last week about Bassini and his interest in taking over Bolton and speculation was hightened when he was spotted at the high court this week as the club faced a winding up petition.
The former Watford is no stranger to controversy having been banned from football in the past. He has also been declared bankrupt twice.
However the 49 year old has now confirmed in an interview with TalkSport that he is in talks to takeover Bolton.
"I was never a rogue chairman or a rogue owner" Bassini told the station.
"I think the Bolton fans deserve more and they need to know and feel safe. I don't know if we will survive this season. If we go down I will be putting a large some of money in to go straight back up and then I plan to get them back into the premier league.
"My plan is simple. I think there's a three year plan. If we stay up there's a two year plan to get them back into the Premiership the money is available.
"We're just waiting for two or three things to be checked out with Anderson but we are very close in this coming week."
