CASE STUDY 1: JENNA
Jenna’s problems arose from depression. She started drinking and taking drugs, pushing her family away which eventually led her to declaring bankruptcy. She then became homeless at just 21.
Jenna sometimes managed to sleep in a hostel but mostly slept rough
She said, “One of the things you end up doing is wandering around all the time because it’s difficult to find somewhere to sleep.
“You get a feeling of incredible loneliness and it can be quite dangerous.”
Jenna’s father eventually asked her to go and live with him but due to her insecurities she ended up back on the streets and went into escort work.
Jenna has now managed to turn her life around. She has a good job and set up Broken Wings – an organisation aiming to help others who’ve experienced similar hardships.
