The Tower FM news team strive to be at the heart of every breaking news story in their patch. In March, they produced extensive coverage following the discovery of a schoolboy's body in a Bury park. This story attracted widespread national media and Tower FM had a strong presence throughout the duration of the developing story. This included an outside broadcast from the scene to conduct live reports, coverage of the boy's funeral and continued reports on the forthcoming court case.

The two main football teams, Bolton Wanderers and Bury FC, receive the best local coverage from the news and sport team at Tower FM. During the season, they attend weekly press conferences at both clubs and they have continued to show interest throughout the closed season, featuring news items from both clubs.

The news team value their local contacts and they have continued to show their support to local campaigns. They include the saviour of the Special Care Baby Unit at Fairfield Hospital and more funding for the Red Centre in Bury. In the case of the latter, Natalie travelled to London's Court of Appeal with the campaign group to cover the story.

The news team have also recently launched a feature called 'Tower FM Action,' which focuses on highlighting local and national campaigns every month.
