It's claimed passenger's hair was set on fire
Colin Jones, 24, of Mottershead Road, Widnes, Cheshire has been charged with reckless/negligent behaviour likely to endanger an aircraft and other people in the aircraft.
Jones was on board a Monarch airline flight travelling from Manchester to Palma yesterday (31 May) and caused the aircraft to be diverted to Gatwick when he singed the hair of another passenger who he was travelling with and the smell of smoke filtered around the cabin.
Sussex Police officers boarded the aircraft in Gatwick shortly after 9am and Jones was arrested on suspicion of endangering an aircraft.
He has been bailed to appear at Hayward Heath Magistrates' Court on 15 June
