Two more charged over killing of man in Farnworth

Two further people have been charged after a man was brutally assaulted in Farnworth, and later died from his injuries.

24 year old Kathryn Colgan of Ramsay Avenue, Farnworth and 25 year old William Coughlan of Ramsay Avenue, Farnworth have been charged with murder.

They appeared at Manchester Crown Court, Crown Square this morning, Monday 19 June 2017 and have been bailed to appear at Manchester Crown Court, Crown Square on Friday 11 August 2017.

A 16-year-old boy has also been arrested on suspicion of murder. He has been bailed until Friday 14 July 2017 pending further enquiries.

28 year old Alex Colgan of Ramsay Avenue, Farnworth and 19 year old Ellis Hampson of Oakfield Drive, Little Hulton were also charged with murder earlier.

They also appeared at Manchester Crown Court, Crown Square this morning, Monday 19 June 2017 and have been bailed to appear at Manchester Crown Court, Crown Square on Friday 11 August 2017.

At around 5.55pm on Friday 9 June 2017, police were called to Masefield Drive to reports that a man had been assaulted around midday.

Officers attended and established that a 43-year-old man had been picked up in a car and driven to Century Mill where he was assaulted by a group of men before being returned to Masefield Drive.

The man was taken to hospital for treatment.

He left hospital the next day but was readmitted two days later and sadly died on Tuesday 13 June 2017.
