Man charged with murder over Wigan stabbing

Man stabbed outside party in Tydsley

A man has been charged following the death of a man in Tyldesley.

Daniel Walker (05/01/1989) of Devon Road, Tyldesley was charged with murder and possessing an offensive weapon.

He is due to appear before Wigan magistrates tomorrow, Wednesday 9 May 2012.

Police were called to a house on Rutland Road shortly after 3am on Monday 7 May 2012, following reports a man had been stabbed.

Officers attended and discovered 23-year-old Stuart Smith with a serious injury to his torso.

He was taken to hospital but died a short time later.

A post-mortem revealed he died from a stab wound to the chest.
