Man charged over death of man in Wigan

Francis Farrell found unconscious when he was walking home after night out

A man is due in court today following the death of a Wigan man.

David Horner (born 2/2/89) of Scholes, Wigan, has been charged with manslaughter and is due before Wigan MagistratesÔ┐┐ Court today, Thursday 12 July 2012.


Francis Farrell, aged 56, was found with a head injury at around 4.10am on Sunday 17 June 2012, on Frog Lane, Wigan.

Francis was taken to hospital for treatment, where he died on Wednesday 20 June 2012.

A post-mortem examination concluded that the cause of FrancisÔ┐┐ death was a head injury.

Detectives are continuing to appeal for information.

DCI Joanne Rawlinson said: "I still want to hear from members of the public and those who have information that will be vital to this investigation.

"I would like to reassure anyone who can help us but still has concerns that they can speak to me in the strictest of confidence."

A 22-year-old man who was also arrested has been released without charge.
