Three men force their way into pensioner's home
Three robbers in Bolton have forced their way into a 90-year-old woman’s home.
The robbery happened just before 8.30pm on Tuesday 29 November 2011, when the victim was at her house on Brandwood Street in Daubhill, Bolton.
The woman heard a knock at the door and went to answer it, putting the security chain on as she did.
Three men then forced their way through the front door, breaking the chain. It is believed that at this point, the door has hit the victim in the face, leaving her with a cut on her head.
Two of the men kept hold of the woman, while the other man searched the house.
They stole money from the woman’s handbag before leaving.
The victim was taken to hospital, where she received stitches for the cut on her forehead. She is being kept in hospital as a precautionary measure.
Specially trained officers are supporting the victim and her family. Additional officers have been on patrol in the area since last night and will be carrying out house to house enquiries and community reassurance in the area today.
Detective Inspector Andy Cunliffe from Bolton’s CID said: "I am sure that people in Bolton will join me in condemning the despicable actions of these three men, who have targeted a vulnerable elderly lady in the sanctity of her own home.
"We are determined to find out who is responsible for this robbery and take these men off our streets.
"I am appealing for anyone who may have been in the area either just before or after this happened last night and who may have seen something, to contact us. Or if you know who is responsible for this cowardly crime, then please search your conscience and give us a call.”
