Bolton Pensioner Knocked Unconscious in Robbery

A woman in her 80s has been knocked to the ground in a robbery in Bolton.

Police were called by the ambulance service at around 12.30pm on Wednesday to reports that a woman had been robbed on Nut Street in Bolton outside of Street Record.

Due to the force of the robbery, the woman was knocked to the ground and banged her head.

She was unconscious for a short period of time and was taken to hospital where she required three stitches to her head. She is now recovering at home.

Detective Sergeant Dave Abram of GMP’s Bolton Borough, said: “This was a cowardly attack on an 82-year-old woman where the conscienceless offender has crept up on her and grabbed her bag.

“I’d like to thank those witnesses who have come forward with information but I need those who haven’t yet got in touch with us to do so - if this offender is prepared to do this to someone’s grandma, we need to catch them and bring them to justice.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 0161 856 5843.
