Bolton man killed in motorway crash

Marc Heywood, aged 27, from Astley Bridge died following the collision at junction seven by Rainhill

A man who was killed following a RTC on the M62 Wednesday, January 25 has been named.

Marc Heywood, aged 27, from Astley Bridge in Bolton died following the collision at junction seven by Rainhill

Mr Heywood had been a passenger in a BMW travelling along the slip road from the M57 to the M62 at junction seven when it collided with a barrier.

The female driver suffered minor injuries which are not life-threatening.

Collision investigators closed a section of the east-bound carriageway of the M62 for several hours to allow an examination of the scene.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call Merseyside Police on 101 or leave information with Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
